Content of Course:

- The procedures to be followed in the preparations of the farrowing house
- The procedures to be followed in the preparations of the sows for the farrowing house
- The appropriate feeding practices to different stages of pig production
- Cleaning and the disinfecting of the pig house
- The observance of bio-security in the piggery
|

Capabilities: |
When completing this course you will be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of:
- preparing the farrowing house for farrowing
- creep feeding, flush feeding and correct feeding practices.
- the provision of potable water to the pigs
- clean and disinfecting all pig housing facilities
- bio-security practices carried out
- handling of pigs, including the movement and restraint of pigs
- communication skills to report observations
- all equipment to be used in all practices carried out
